“I am running for City Council because I believe in a Plainfield where we make it possible for working-class families to thrive; where we prioritize affordable and accessible housing, we ensure public safety, and we invest in sustainable improvements that benefit Queen City residents.”

Growing up in a mixed political household where my mother, a liberal Democrat, and my father, a libertarian, engaged in spirited debates about policy, pragmatic spending, and the future of our nation, I learned early on the importance of understanding diverse perspectives to effectively serve all constituents. My journey led me to pursue a degree in political science from John Jay College and St. John’s University, where I honed my advocacy skills. As President of the Pan African Caribbean Student Association, I championed an inclusive curriculum, advocating for equity in education.

That commitment to advocacy continued as I worked on social and political campaigns in New York, New Jersey, and Washington DC, focusing on health care issues and patient education. For 18 years, I dedicated myself to raising awareness for cancer screenings and improving the patient experience at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).

At MSK, I was honored with the Senior Leadership Award and Patient Care Award for my initiative that allows patients worldwide to request a second opinion from our experts, resulting in increased resources and revenue for the organization and priceless confidence for the patient. As part of my work at MSK, I co-founded the mScope program, providing underprivileged high school students with mentorship in laboratory sciences. Philanthropy is also a significant part of my life, as I established The Outreach Foundation, offering scholarships and grants to support students and community members in need.

In 2021, I was elected to serve as a Commissioner for the Plainfield Board of Education. During my time on the Board, I have served as Vice President, Chair of the Policy and Legislation Committee, and as the NJSBA Legislative Delegate. Additionally, I serve as a Board Member for the Plainfield Symphony and Queen City Promise.

As a resident of Plainfield's 3rd Ward with my husband, Errol, and our children, Jeremiah(20), Jack (15), and Veda (6), I understand the importance of PROACTIVE municipal management, not reactive, in building a strong community. My background in operations and communications, coupled with my experience in non-profits, provides the experience for me to bring effective leadership and management to the Council and the City of Plainfield.

I am running for City Council because I believe in a Plainfield where working-class families can thrive. My goals include prioritizing affordable housing, ensuring public safety, and investing in sustainable improvements that benefit all residents, not just developers. I am committed to creating positive change for our city and ask for your support on or before June 4th. Together, we can challenge the status quo and continue improving Plainfield, making it an even better place to work, live, and raise your family!
